Samsung S5690 Galaxy Xcover Protected – Editors would like to thank the Stylus online store for the kindly provided Samsung Galaxy XCover smartphone for review
The protected phone class, which has been largely forgotten by manufacturers over the past five years, is slowly coming back to life with timid steps. Now they are smartphones with large touch screens, which on the one hand creates additional problems of protection, on the other hand the ubiquity of Gorilla protective glass and new production technologies (Japanese smartphones quite often withstand immersion in water and do not look like rubber coffins) allow you to achieve the desired result with less effort.
Samsung Galaxy Xcover is the third protected Android smartphone after Motorola Defy + and Sony Ericsson Xperia Active, which has been in our hands and has passed all tests.
The protection class of this model IP67 implies the prevention of dust ingress and the ability to remain underwater for half an hour at a depth of one meter. The smartphone was announced at the end of last summer, but never reached the official sales channels of our country. In any case, I did not find its “white” traces. This is the first secure smartphone in the history of Samsung, interest in such devices has still not been very great, so you can understand the reasons why the company does not really believe in its popularity.
Specifications and equipment Samsung S5690 Galaxy Xcover
What looked like average specs last year (800 MHz processor, 3Mp camera, screen with 480×320 pixel resolution) looks weak this year, the device is in the latter part of its lifecycle. This is what determines its appearance on the “gray” market – the price of 2400 hryvnia looks quite interesting, even taking into account the weak characteristics. Anything can be forgiven for the protection, although it sounds more like a fad to the buyer than a real necessity.
There is protective glass on a lot of devices (although there is hardly any in this price segment yet). And those who really need an unpretentious, trouble-free device to work (some, relatively speaking, oil tankers and anyone who works “in the field” away from cities) would rather buy a good, reliable “dialer”.
