Sammamish Library Sustainable Design by Perkins+Will
This is a Sammamish Library located in the southern edge of the Civic Plaza. The building is filled with the new facility was designed by Perkins + Will. A seat wall plaza and beautiful zone greet visitors. You will also be exposed to the square if it was in a bar, meeting rooms and virtual world’s area teens, because of large expanses of glass. Sammamish library is made to reduce the need for lighting, to create natural light, warm and inviting space.
In the main hall ends in a large reading room concept that attracts people to the edge of glass with views to the west overlooking the nature preserve, the Olympic Peninsula and Seattle skyline. Almost all the interior design of the building is characterized by elements of wood, which includes an entry lobby wall signatures, meeting the walls and ceiling. A gas fireplace in solving concrete and glass enclosure provides a central meeting point in a large reading room.
The new Sammamish Library has a highly insulated building envelope and efficiently. It designed to reduce heat loss and gain while maximizing passive solar gain and lighting. The practice of sustainable design has become a top priority in the development of the site and this building. The parking lot is located under the building with an elevator to access the library floor. In addition, under the library roof planted with low maintenance, native sedum to reduce water runoff.
