Architecture of Home: Wonderful Fab Lab House by IAAC
This is a Fab Lab House, designed by the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC). The architectural design house like this is a great example of the environment. The purpose of this house is to spread among the public the benefits of using renewable energy, particularly solar energy at home. A home that is designed to act like a tree recently won the Solar Decathlon Europe people’s choice. The house contains a “domestic metabolism” that provides detailed real-time monitoring of behavior and interaction with the environment, creating profiles and sharing social history. The house has also introduced significant technological innovations such as panels in the world’s most efficient solar flexible, made with Spanish and American technology. The Fab Lab House is currently available for sale, with prices ranging from €45,000 for the smallest model.
Here are some inspiring words from Vicente Guallart, Director of the IAAC: “Buildings must be like trees, which are self sufficient, and must follow natural principles. Rather than built, the project was manufactured, as digital manufacturing machine tools (known as 3D printers) were used in the construction process. This process partakes on the humanistic idea, advocated by Guallart, that things must be again produced in cities. Says Guallart “We produced our solar house with researchers, in accordance with medieval principles: the designer and the builder are the same person.”
